Park County Archives Curator Brian Beauvais presents “Valley Ranch and the Yellowstone Backcountry: Recounting the Annual Pack Trips from Larry Larom’s Wyoming Dude Ranch”

For more than four decades, Larry Larom organized annual summer pack trips for the children of his well-to-do Eastern dude clientele from Valley Ranch on the upper South Fork. These excursions were often longer than five weeks and posed interesting logistical challenges. Well-documented in a collection of photographic scrapbooks, the pack trips provide a wonderful opportunity to address how tourism regularly reached the remotest sections of Yellowstone National Park. Beauvais uses historic photographs to recount these trips.

Cody Culture Club events are $20 per person, with ticket packages available (two tickets to every program for only $130).
