Geologic context of Native American Lithics in the eastern Big Horn Basin

Please Join us Saturday May 20th in the Grizzly Room of the Park County Library. Dan Close will be presenting Geologic context of Native American Lithics in the eastern Big Horn Basin.
Dan Close’s presentation stems from over forty years of observations in the Big Horn Basin from the career perspective of, first, a geology instructor in the public school system and, second, as a geologist and environmental coordinator for the mining industry.
This presentation relates historic mineral resource procurement, used for the manufacture of stone tools, by native Americans, and the geologic context from which these materials were derived. These early peoples were incredible geologists! This presentation will expand your understanding of local lithic resources, hopefully enriching your appreciation of the physical world around you. You can expect lots of hands-on.
