Sierra Club: Sunlight Basin Hike

We will be off-trail for most of this 4.5 mile hike, gaining 1,200 feet in elevation. The hike begins at the Little Sunlight campground and will climb to an expansive hilly, open plateau. Both the Little Sunlight and Sunlight Creek drainages are visible and there are clues to an amazing geologic history. Be prepared for an amazing landscape showing sedimentary and volcanic rocks, faulting, erosion processes, and glacial movement. Enjoy discussions with local geology experts in a wonderful natural space.
