Spring Forward Expo

Join us at Park County Libraries for the Spring Forward Expo, a community event dedicated to embracing the arrival of spring and fostering sustainable gardening practices. Taking place on Saturday, March 9th, starting at 10 a.m., this event promises an enriching experience for all attendees across our three library branches in Cody, Powell, and Meeteetse, Wyoming.
Seed Libraries: Cultivating Community and Sustainability Be part of the sustainable gardening movement by visiting any of our library branches to access locally sourced vegetable and flower seeds from our Seed Libraries. Feel free to contribute to our inventory by donating seeds, further enriching our collection and promoting biodiversity.
Event Highlights:
Door Prizes and Seed Swap Stations: Explore garden vegetables and locally grown native wildflowers while participating in our seed swap stations at all three library branches.
Take-home Craft Bags and Gardening Resources: Dive deeper into gardening with our take-home craft bags and a wealth of gardening information and resources available for all attendees.
Cody Library Speaker Lineup: Experience enlightening talks at the Cody Library, covering various gardening and conservation topics:
10 am: Join us for a seed bomb craft program and story time in the Children’s Library.
11 am: Engage with Conservation Storyteller Kathy Lichtendahl as she shares insights on garden photography.
12:30 pm: Learn about soil health from Bobbie Holder and Olivia Bergeron of the Cody Conservation District.
2 pm: Discover the art of growing tomatoes with Master Gardener Kathy Clarkson.
Cody Library will also have tables set up with expert visitors around the area such as Park County Weed & Pest, Master Gardeners, Cody Conservation District, University of Wyoming Extension Office.
Powell Library Educational Programs: Prepare for the expo with informative sessions at the Powell Library:
Tuesday, March 5th, 6 pm: Explore tree health maintenance with a presentation by Josh Pomeroy of Blue Ribbon Tree Service.
Thursday, March 7th, 6 pm: Dive into the history of irrigation with Brandi Wright, Director of the Homesteader Museum, presenting ‘The Garland Canal – 114 Years of Irrigation: Blood, Sweat, and Water, 1908-2022’.
Meeteetse Library Kick-off: Start the expo with “Seed Starting 101” led by Kendra Morris from Pollen Landscapes at 10:00 a.m. on March 9th at the Meeteetse Library.
Seed Donation Call to Action: Keep our seed libraries stocked by donating seeds for our inventory! We welcome garden vegetable and native or garden flower seeds. We ask that you label your donation with the Common Name, Scientific Name, City or County Collected, and Collection Year, and drop off donations at any of the 3 libraries.
Join Us! Embrace community, learning, and celebration as we welcome spring and promote sustainable gardening practices at the Spring Forward Expo.
