Tours and Toddies “Working with Raptors”

What does it take to care for 13 living, non-releasable birds of prey who call the Buffalo Bill Center of the West their home? Find out at our upcoming VIP Exclusive Tours & Toddies event!

Join the Draper Museum Raptor Program Manager, Melissa Hill, and Raptor Program Assistant, Brandon Lewis, on May 12th at 6pm as they share the challenges and rewards of operating this program. Each bird of prey comes with their own personality, quirks, and needs that Raptor staff learn to understand and address.

Event participants will enjoy a private encounter with two of our bird ambassadors: Hayden, a Swainson’s Hawk, and Teasdale, a Great Horned Owl. Guests will also get hands-on with materials and tools that are used in the care of the Center’s resident raptors as well as receive a behind-the-scenes look at the training each staff and volunteer undergoes to help care for these creatures.

At the end of this Exclusive Tours & Toddies event, Melissa and Brandon will bring the group back to the Exclusive Tours Depot for Q&A, charcuterie, and adult beverages. Guests can enjoy adorable owl-inspired cupcakes as well as the evening’s drink special, titled “Hayden’s Highball” after one of our raptors of honor. (No raptors will be harmed in the making of these confections)

Don’t miss this exciting and exclusive evening!
