Minding the Gap with Dan Rieple
In this 3 day course students will create an 8 x 10 vanity mirror, which can also hang on a wall, using unconventional methods to join the mitered corners. Rather than the usual tight glue line of a miter, the mirror frame will have as much as a 1/2” gap and be joined using either contrasting wood dowels (which students will make) or contrasting wood splines which the students will make. Optionally, students can texture the frame surface or just sand it smooth.
