Featured Artist: Vicki Olson

Vicki Olson lives in Powell and is known to many in this area, as she and her husband, Bruce, have lived here for many years. Vicki has held many jobs in the area, including a retail store in downtown Cody. She has worked for the airport and had her own travel agency, Absaroka Cruise and Travel.

In 2014, she turned her attention to learning photography by taking courses at Northwest College. She graduated with a degree in Photographic Communications. She loves experimenting with software and finds the quiet in the wee hours of the night fuels her creativity.

Taking her artwork to the next level, she has entered and achieved recognition in many photography contests. This is no surprise; her work exudes a sense of peace and mindfulness in the moment. When you find one of her works resonating deeply with you – it’s usually from this calm presence that she brings to all she does.

And she’s very involved in the community. She serves as a board member for Friends of a Legacy (FOAL) and is trained as one who darts the horses with contraceptives to manage the herd. Because of this, she has spent many hours out in the McCullough Peaks area and has some outstanding photos of the wild horses.

She also serves on the Rocky Mountain Manor in Powell board and volunteers for CASA. Plus, in her “spare time,” she coaches youth soccer for Powell Rec Department.

This busy woman is also a partner at Open Range Images, where she brings a wide variety of images from wildlife to landscape to still lifes to travel photography. You can find her work online and in the downtown gallery at Open Range Images.
